The People’s Reviews: Tables, Ladders, & Chairs 2009

I finally, FINALLY ordered WWE Classics on Demand. I’ve had before, and it’s a fucking God send. Things haven’t changed.

They have the TLC PPV up, so I was finally able to see it. I know you’re all dying to hear what I think, so let’s get it cracking, shall we?

Tables, Ladders & Chairs
December 13th, 2009

Ladder Match for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship: Christian [C] vs. Shelton Benjamin
Duration: 18:05
I’ve already discussed this in the Best of PPV DVD review. Not much has changed. This match still kicks serious ass. They wanted to steal the show, let’s find out if they do….

WWE Intercontinental Championship: John Morrison [C] vs. Drew McIntyre
Duration: 10:19
This was a bit of meh, for me. Morrison is great, but I’m not sold on McIntyre yet. The Starship Pain was originally RVD’s finisher. But the peeps at WCW said it wasn’t very impactful. Hence, the birth of the 5 Star. Which, if you ask me, Kofi could come up with one that would blow people’s minds.

WWE Women’s Championship: Michelle McCool [C] vs. Mickie James
Duration: 7:31
It’s just an average Diva’s match that actually has an interesting angle going with it. Watch their Rumble much instead.

Tables Match for the WWE Championship: John Cena [C] vs. Sheamus
Duration: 16:19
The shot heard round the world. This was a decent little match with a shocker of an ending. I felt the match lacked a bit of the drama that a normal pin/submit match would have, and the spot at the end took sooo long to set up. The title change was completely asinine. They did it for shock value, that’s the only reason I can think of. As his match against HHH at WM did a lot more for him than winning the belt did.
Rating: * * *

Chairs Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: The Undertaker [C] vs. Batista
Duration: 13:14
It’s no secret that I love it when The Undertaker and Batista lock up. So, while this match may not be there best, and most people wouldn’t really love it, I on the other hand was digging it. I wish the chairs were used more, but you don’t complain with what you get. The ending was so fucking stupid I won’t even acknowledge it.

Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston
Duration: 13:11
Man, this match was just clicking like all hell for me. I’m going to have to go back through the recent PPVs and see if they had another meeting, I don’t think they did though, because this one was awesome. Randy Orton is the fucking man. He does a bunch of little things that make him such a big deal. The mannerisms, facial expressions, and the things he does are just so sinister and awesome. Kofi is a bad ass athlete who just makes shit happen, so this match was great.

TLC Match for the Unified Tag Team Championship: JeriShow [C] vs. DX
Duration: 22:32
TLC, much like Hell in a Cell, is something that’s impossible to screw up. Unless Biker Taker were involved, then anything is possible. So, in that continued tradition, this one is great. It’s a little slower moving than most, but they make up for it with other avenues. Displaying Show’s strength by him constantly destroying the ladders was great, as was the final shot of Triple H holding the one sided ladder for Shawn. Great match.
Rating: * * * * 1/4th

Final PPV Rating: * * * * 1/4th. You get 3 great main events, and an opener that ties the main event as Best Match for the evening.
