Horror B-Sides – October 5th, 2013

Gremlins – 1984

In the world of horror, Gremlins is a picture that’s often over-looked. One of the reasons could be that it fits in about 30 different film genres; horror, family, Christmas, comedy, action. It packs it all in without feeling forced. One of the more tense scenes is when the cocoons hatch and the Gremlins run loose in the house. Now, this isn’t the more goofy, gentle Gremlins from the New Batch, these motherfuckers are deadly. However, the mother of the Peltzer household is one bad-ass herself and brings the pain to these guys like Rambo to Russians & Vietcong. We’re talking knives, blenders, and microwaves. It’s a fantastic scene, and one that scared the hell out of me as a child.
