Minute Man Reviews – Civil War, Neighbors 2, X-Men: Apocolypse

I know, I know, updates have been slacking, but I’ve got quite a few coming, so stay tuned, until then, let’s head to the multiplex.

Captain America: Civil War – I think the world already knows that this is a masterpiece. My boy Cap is the first character to have a successful comic book trilogy. Everyone else got close but fucked it up. Also, he’s the only guy where the films just kept getting better. This movie is awesome, and the hanger fight scene is probably the greatest comic book movie scene in history. ***** outta *****

Neighbors 2 – It’s a funny movie, and very well done. Not as good as the first though. It’s exactly what you want though. Of course, a nitpick I have is the whole “it’s a sexist world and Frat guys are sexist monsters!”. No, that isn’t true. 99% of men aren’t sexist, and guys in Frats were no different. I went to a ton of Frat parties and knew plenty of Frat guys. Honestly, the women at those parties were far more wild, and women are far more sexist against women then men will ever be. But I’m getting off into a tangent. I’d say rent this one, don’t bother with the theater. ***1/2/ outta *****

X-Men: Apocalypse – Yeah, this one…it sucks. The villain is about as uninteresting as it gets, so are his “horsemen”. The good guy side is fleshed out better with young versions of Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and Jean Grey. They all do great in their roles. There is also an awesome cameo that would have been amazing had they not ruined it in the second trailer, but still, it’s a sweet moment. Quicksilver is back, and once again done far better than The Avengers did, and once again steals the show with the coolest scene of the whole film. The whole ordeal with Magneto just seems hamfisted and cliche, not to mention a little ridiculous. The film just doesn’t work, and is pretty much tied with X3 in terms of the worst sequel.**3/4  outta *****
