Invasion of the Body Snatchers
The 1950’s had a lot of gems in the science fiction realm, and one of the most well known is of course, Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
For those who don’t know, Body Snatchers is the story about a psychiatrist who started seeing a lot of patients who swore that their loved ones weren’t their loved ones anymore. As it goes on, the Dr. starts his investigation, and begins to learn what’s really going on.
It’s a well done movie that is done in that noir, detective-ish style. You get the narration from the Dr through out the film, and that’s something I love when done in the right movie. Along with that, you get a great sense of paranoia and dread, and often put yourself in the situations, wondering just what the fuck you’d do. Especially when body doubles are being found, then disappearing. Classic stuff.
This movie has been remade quite a few times, most famously in the 1970s. While that version is decent, I don’t think it compares to this one. Later in the 2000s it was done again, only this time called The Invasion, and that’s actually my favorite one. But that’ll be another review for another day, buckshots.
